Information Store is not starting – Exchange 2010/2013/2016 – “Service-specific error code 1006“

Symptoms:

Information Store is not starting. Hangs in starting state.

“Service-specific error code 1006“

All Databases are offline.

Cause:

Antivirus is preventing MSexchange Information store to start.

Solution:

1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

2.Browse to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\VirusScan

3.On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.

4.In the File name box, type virusscan, and then click Save.

NOTE: If you later need to restore this registry key, you can do so by double-clicking the Virusscan.reg file that you saved.

5.In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, right-click the Enabled value, and then click Modify.

6.In the Value data box, type 0 (zero), and then click OK.

7.Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
